Adel Bishtawi

Like orange peel,
Men for girls,
Can pollute and clean,
In their hands,
A girl becomes a woman,
And soon enough a pauper,
Or before long a queen.

So, treat gently,
With respect,
Petals of a rose,
Can be easily detached,
But they can’t be re-attached,
The sadness never ends,
With no queen at the beehive,
The heart may shrivel and dim,
The winter is long,
But it will survive,
Then comes along,
Another man,
With gentleness and love,
Slowly, the heart will wake up,
And begins to revive.
